It started with this thread https://forums.azbilliards.com/thre...-mahogany-gold-crown-iv-pristine-cond.575354/

The wife got her new couch and gave me permission to upgrade the 8' table to a 9'. I was seriously interested in the GC above and John was outstanding in our communications and even though I did not buy his table, I am very glad it was sold. So then appears a Diamond Professional available for sale on FB that my wife found, much closer to me than Vegas. After finally making arrangements to go see the table, I load up some help, get all my tools ready to go, hooked up the trailer and hit the road. The table location was about 3 hours away.

Thank god the table was on the first floor and in the living room right inside the front door. The table was being sold by a widow and the son was doing the negotiation. After a slightly contentious discussion and me almost bailing on the deal because he was being kinda of an A$$, we made a deal. His mom basically told him STFU and take the deal. She is downsizing and needed the table gone.

The table is an older Pro, it is a Red label, pre leveling system, maybe 2004? So at least 20 years old. The nice thing was that it came with 2 brand new sets of Simonis 760! Simonis Green and Tournament blue!!

So now the work begins. Got it disassembled, loaded and secured for the trip. Holy Cow those slate sections are HEAVY!!!!! Got it back to the house unscathed and now to disassemble the 8' and get the Diamond into the house and setup. I will be taking lots of pics for the thread, I didn't take any pics of the disassembly (being respectful of privacy of the widow) but I will start with these.

Paid $2500

I actually wonder if 760 would be better for a Diamond, since its rails are usually considered faster than other tables. The bed speed would more closely match the rail speed. I've never played on a Diamond with 760, but have played on dozens of Gold Crowns with 760 (and 860 of course).

In a pool hall situation it could make a little sense...but even then not really.

Home table....it will be abnormally fast and not play like other Diamonds. Keep the 860 clean and you will be fine.

Speaking as someone who has only had Brunswick at home, I’ve never gotten close to Diamond speed until I put 760 on the table. The 760 has me even when I play out on diamonds locally. For what it’s worth.

What color 760 is that?
Off topic, did you ever try 760 on your table? It's way better for humid conditions. My home pool room in philly was next to a creek, and partly below grade (basement of a commercial building on a hill). The room was always humid. The owner had 760 on it for 30 years. He'd change the cloth every 6 months to a year, it was a player's room. Except one year he put 860. The 860 was dog slow in that environment, and all the players cried and had him put 760 back on the next recloth. Other rooms in the area were not humid, and all had 860. The 760 in the humid room played about the same as the 860 in the dry rooms. All tables in my comparison were Gold Crowns, mostly 4's.

No I haven't tried it yet. But I've actually thought about it. If they make 760 in Powder Blue I might go that route the next time. Which would probably be in about a year.

Highly recommend for humid rooms. It made a world of difference in that room, and I doubt it was anywhere near as humid as your room.
